 ARE YOU READY
FOR THE 2017 SUMMER
HOMEBREWERS CHALLENGE

The people have spoken:

Summer 2017 style is SMASH!

All contestants will have to brew with a single malt variety and a single hops variety.
While the brewers have a wide variety of styles, there is nowhere to hide!
You will taste each brewers skills!

The Northern Michigan Homebrewers Guild and Traverse City Microbrew and Music festival gladly bring you the Summer Homebrewers Challenge.

The Homebrewers Challenge begins at 3pm, Saturday August 12th, and ends when the first 5 gallon keg is finished. Doors open at NOON for setup.

We still need 4 Volunteers and an Alternate brewer who will have a beer ready in case we lose a contestant.

As in years before there will be Peoples Choice, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Judges Choice. Peoples Choice is chosen by public vote (where they drop their cup) and and panel of experienced brewers will use BJCP standards to judge.

CLICK HERE FOR 2017 OFFICIAL RULES

Pre-Signup begins June 6th for Northern Michigan Homebrewers Guild Members.
Public signup begins June 14th.

There will be space for 1 alternate brewer, who will need to have 5 gallon keg of beer ready on standby if someone else cancels. (If nobody cancels, you still have 5 gallons of beer)

All registrants must bring a 5 gallon keg of beer with serving capability in the style we have chosen, plus 2 12oz bottles (or equivalent) for the judges. You will serve your beer in 2 oz pours until it’s gone.

All entrants will receive free admittance for them and 1 helper to the Microbrew and Music festival on Saturday only.

Sign up below! Act now, as space is limited to 7 brewers plus 1 alternate.
